HOW TO LOOK UP A TERM (LOOKUP MODE)
Just type in your term and press Enter. The
highlighted definition will be retrieved.
Press 2, 3, 8 and 9 on your numeric keypad
to move up and down the term list and the
definitions. Use 3 and 9 to go faster.
The Glossary is very fast even on a 286. This
cannot be demonstrated over a modem.
HOW TO QUIT
To quit, select QUIT from the menu (Shift-0).
USING THE MOUSE TO HYPERTEXT
In the non-BBS version, if you have a mouse,
you can click on a term or highlight a multi-word
term in the text window, and the term will be
retrieved if it is in the index. If the term is
not in the index, the closest match will be
highlighted. You can retrieve the highlighted
index term by clicking on it.
HOW TO SEARCH DEFINITIONS (SEARCH MODE)
In the non-BBS version, you can search within the
text for every occurrence of a term. Use this to
learn more about a term or find a product or
vendor that is not a term by itself.
HOW TO PRINT A DEFINITION
In the non-BBS version, you can print the current
definition in the text window.
HOW TO EXTRACT A DEFINITION
In the non-BBS version, you can append definitions
to a text file for input into another application.
In the Windows version, you can copy a
definition to the clipboard.
HOW TO REVIEW YOUR LOOKUPS
In the non-BBS version, you can review tomorrow
what you looked up today. The last 50 lookups are
saved from session to session.
HOW TO SET AND FIND A BOOKMARK
In the non-BBS version, you can set a bookmark in
long definitions and return to that location. The
bookmark is saved from session to session.
HOW TO SET MONOCHROME COLORS FOR LAPTOPS
In the non-BBS version, you can increase contrast
on laptops by switching to black and white.
HOW TO RUN THE GLOSSARY AS A POPUP (TSR)
The non-BBS DOS version comes with a TSR option
that takes only 6K of RAM and lets you pop up the
Glossary over a standard VGA text or graphics
application.
The hotkey function lets you change the hotkey
from the default Alt-G to another key combination.
